I thank Gottlieb and colleagues1 for conducting this investigation that assessed women’s participation as authors, reviewers, and editorial board members for The Journal of the American Dental Association. Their analysis showed a steady increase in female authorship to 47% in 2022. Female first authors increased even more substantially to more than 50% by 2016. Membership on the editorial board in 2022 was reported as 41% female. Since becoming editor in chief, one of the goals I have pursued is diversifying the editorial board members and the associate editors.
