The January JADA article titled “Risk Factors Associated With the Survival of Endodontically Treated Teeth: A Retrospective Chart Review” (Chang Y, Choi M, Yu-Bo Wang Y-B, et al. JADA. 2024;155[1]:39-47) lists many issues to consider during treatment planning. Although the authors are comprehensive regarding patient and periodontal health, my 42 years of full-time practice (which includes endodontically treating, restoring, and observing thousands of teeth over more than 4 years) leads me to believe that this list is missing 1 issue regarding the condition and restoration of, and therefore the prognosis for, the tooth in question.
