The purpose of this letter is to give a brief commentary on entrustable professional activities (EPAs) after the thoughtful August JADA guest editorial on EPAs, “Bridging the Gap Between Dental Education and Clinical Practice: The Entrustable Professional Activities Model” (Quinonez RB, Danciu T, Ramaswamy V, Murdoch-Kinch CA. JADA. 2023;154[8]:687-689). EPAs were initiated to address the shortcomings of competencies to articulate observable actions by students.1-6 EPAs are increasingly seen as an expansive tool to guide learning and assess student performance over time.
