Oral manifestations of mpox

Mpox (formerly known as “monkeypox”) virus (MPXV) started to appear in humans in 1970 after the eradication of smallpox in 1968. The first outbreak of the disease was reported in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and since then it has spread mainly in the central and western regions of Africa. MPXV is a double-stranded DNA virus of the Orthopoxvirus genus of the Poxviridae family. Mpox (MPX) was first known as a zoonotic disease transmitted from tree squirrels, rope squirrels, Gambian pouched rats, and other animals.
