ChatGPT’s risk of misinformation in dentistry

Artificial intelligence (AI) has large implications in health care education. In particular, the role of ChatGPT (OpenAI) has amassed considerable attention, serving as an important source of information for dental students across the world. In 2023, researchers reported that ChatGPT-4 correctly answered 76.9% of practice questions used to prepare students for the Integrated National Board Dental Examination.1 In spite of the model’s ability to access accurate dental information, the authors reported a considerable risk of misinformation associated with its educational use in dentistry.
